This program is designed to provide a working knowledge of parliamentary procedure as described in Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised (RONR), 11th Edition, and to prepare individuals to take the Membership Exam of the National Association of Parliamentarians (optional).

How to Use This Program

Organization leaders, members, teachers and students can all use this program.  Each session can be used as a stand-alone training, so users can select the topic they need at any given time.  Sessions 1-9 can also be taught as a course for all members. Sessions 10-12 are for group leader training. Slideshows, simple explanations, handouts, teaching instructions,  and simulations are provided, so create an engaging learning experience.

Teaching Overview and Instructions

Use this program to teach students.

This course is designed to provide basic working knowledge of parliamentary procedure as described in Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised (RONR), 11th Edition, and to prepare students to take the Membership Exam of the National Association of Parliamentarians.  Teachers and students must each have their own copy of the official 11th Edition of Roberts Rules of Order Newly Revised. Instruction works well for ages 12 to adult.

Teacher Preparation – complete these items prior to teaching each session

  1. Read the introductory paragraph for that session’s subject matter.
  2. Complete the RONR reading.
  3. Complete the specific preparations for that session.

Recommended Session Order

Although each session can be taught as a stand-alone class, the following order is most effective for the student. Feel free to skip any sessions that don’t apply to your students.
