Course Extensions

As pertaining to tuition paid for the 2024-2025 school year, the live program final date for late submissions of assignments and quizzes is February 1, 2025 for 1st semester live courses, and June 7, 2025 for 2nd semester live courses. No extension is needed for self-paced courses, except world language and Teaching Textbooks courses (see below).

If a live program school student hasn’t completed a live course by the final due date, the student may pay the monthly extension fee of $18 per elementary school course, $22 per middle school course or $28 per high school course, and continue to submit items until they have completed the course. In this case, the student will remain in the same live course grade book, but be moved to the extension section of that course. The mentor for extensions will provide the grading and feedback. (For high school students seeking NCAA eligibility, extensions are limited to the two months following the end of a live program academic calendar.)

Elementary School Extensions Guide: Only one extension is needed for 1 live semester of unit studies. Only one extension is needed for 1 live semester of English Language Arts, which includes Literature Studies, Writing Studies, Handwriting, IXL and Typing. A free 90-day extension is provided for Teaching Textbooks courses, past the 1-year date after the date of enrollment. A $85 fee is charged thereafter, to renew the license for one additional year of study. One extension is needed for each semester of studio art. One extension is needed for one semester of world language.

Extensions may be purchased at any time. Students may purchase a maximum of 4 months of extensions, consecutive or nonconsecutive, in order for it to be recorded as a live course.

In order for a credit to be recorded as a live class credit, more than 50% of the submitted work must have been completed during the live class time period. If less than 50% of the work was submitted during the live class time period, students may still complete the course by purchasing an extension. In this case, the course will be recorded as a self-paced course.

If a student pays for a self-paced world language course in one year, then wants to take it again in the following year, we will charge the full tuition rate for the second year since we assume that the first year was level 1 so they are taking level 2 the second year. If they need more than 2 years to complete 2 credits of a world language, we will only charge the license renewal fee of $120.

A free 90-day extension is provided for Teaching Textbooks courses, past the 1-year date after the date of enrollment. A $85 fee is charged thereafter, to renew the license for one additional year of study.

If a student is missing IXL assignments in middle or high school English, and not missing any other assignments, no extension is needed. Grades will be reported as soon as IXL assignments are completed.

Complete and submit the following form. Be sure to specify the student’s name, grade level, the course name(s) and how many months they need.

Refund Policy

Students may withdraw at any time during the school year. Monthly payments cease at the end of the month in which written notice of withdrawal is received by school administration. A prorated refund for annual lump sum payments is provided, based on the number of months enrolled and after written notice of withdrawal is received by school administration. (See Babbel and Teaching Textbooks exception below.)

Students may switch from live to self-paced anytime. Typically, they will remain in the live course in Canvas, but simply be switched to the self-paced section within that live course. The course will be marked as a self-paced course on the transcript. If they switch after Lesson 9, no refund will be given and they will continue to be charged the live course rate.

For the purposes of prorated refunds for self-paced lump sum tuition, calculations are according to this formula: 1-credit courses are equivalent to a 10-month period, and 0.5-credit courses are equivalent to a 5-month period, regardless of the actual number of lessons completed. (See Babbel and Teaching Textbooks exception below.) There is no refund for 80%-100% completed self-paced courses.

The calendar month during which a written notice of withdrawal is received, is counted as an enrolled month, when the withdrawal notice is received after the 5th day of that month.

Babbel Refund Policy: When a student withdraws from any World Language course that uses Babble, a prorated amount of $10 per month, for each unused month, is retained by Ensign Peak Academy to cover the cost of the Babbel license. This is due to the fact that Babbel sells annual licenses to schools, payable by lump sum, with no refund. Please let us know if you wish to continue using your license after withdrawal.

Teaching Textbooks Refund Policy: When a student withdraws from any Teaching Textbooks course, a prorated amount of $8 per month, for each unused month, is retained by Ensign Peak Academy to cover the cost of the Teaching Textbooks license. This is due to the fact that Teaching Textbooks sells annual licenses to schools, payable by lump sum, with no refund. Please let us know if you wish to continue using your license after withdrawal.

Self-Paced Course Inactive Student Policy: Our mentors, registrar and directors regularly check on all student progress. When students do not make progress in self-paced courses, notes are sent to the student and parent. If a student is not active in a course for six months and no written withdrawal notice has been received from a parent, the student will be deactivated in the course. Notice and a final grade report will be sent to the student and parent regarding this deactivation. This procedure assists the school with efficiency in records management. The student may reactivate at any time in the future by sending a written request to registrar@ensignpeakacademy.com. No additional tuition will be charged for reactivated self-paced courses.
